Stage Technician (Role 8)

The STEAM [R8] Stage Tech runs the stage from the STEAM perspective. They setup and maintain connections to instruments and vocals. Organizes cable management and troubleshoots technical issues. Usually performed by the [R10q] Quality Assurance Manger, as scheduled by the [R10s] Scheduling Manager on Planning Center.

Must show proficiency in handling delicate tech equipment and cable management. Networking experience or education is a strong bonus. The ability to follow written checklists and verbal direction is imperative. Of course a friendly demeanor and positive attitude is also required. Ultimately, we are looking for a servant heart and a love for others.

  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for performing and submitting all checklists assigned.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for stage setup of all technical and musical equipment needed.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for safe, efficient, and quality maximizing cable management on stage.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for security of all equipment on the stage during the event.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for troubleshooting and fixing any problems that may arise during event.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for optimizing stage setup for common tasks on an ongoing basis.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for training any volunteers being onboarded in this role.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is responsible for working with the [R11] Tech Director on relevant improvements.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to maintain accurate blockout dates in Planning Center.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to quickly accept or decline role assignments in Planning Center.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to arrive early and well-prepared for the service or event.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to show up looking professional with a non-distracting appearance.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to complete role setup before scheduled service or event begins.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to complete role teardown and cleanup before leaving.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to remain focused on role for the duration of service or event.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to leave phones, food, and drinks behind the safety tape line.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to attend any worship team and STEAM team gatherings.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to invest in building relationships with team and congregants.
  • The [R8] Stage Tech is expected to perform minimum independent study for continuous improvement.
  • Weekly independent study: 1+ hours (minimum)
  • STEAM briefing meeting: 15 minutes
  • Tech Role Setup: 30 minutes
  • STEAM debriefing meeting: 5 minutes
  • Tech Role Teardown: 30 minutes
  • Total Weekly Time Commitment: 2 hours, approx.

  • STEAM Reserves means that the resource is scheduled once per month or less.
  • STEAM Team means that the resource is actively scheduled twice per month or more.
  • STEAM Leader means that the resource is actively performing Leadership Roles in addition to Tech.
  • STEAM Manager means that the resource is solely performing Leadership Roles, not Tech.
