Monitor Technician (Role 7)

The STEAM [R7] Monitor Tech runs SoundCastor and other in-ear solutions. They organize mixes for in-ear channels and assits musicians with their own personal mix. Usually performed by the [R1] Sound Tech, as scheduled by the [R10s] Scheduling Manager on Planning Center.

Must be actively pursuing proficiency as a [R1] Sound Tech. The ability to follow written checklists and verbal direction is imperative. Of course a friendly demeanor and positive attitude is also required. Ultimately, we are looking for a servant heart and a love for others.

  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for performing and submitting all checklists assigned.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for ensuring quality source input levels for the monitor mixes.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for seamlessly running the in-ear software and options.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for optimizing the networks required for running in-ears.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for assisting musicians in creating their quality in-ear mixes.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for training any volunteers being onboarded in this role.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is responsible for working with the [R11] Tech Director on relevant improvements.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to maintain accurate blockout dates in Planning Center.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to quickly accept or decline role assignments in Planning Center.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to arrive early and well-prepared for the service or event.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to show up looking professional with a non-distracting appearance.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to complete role setup before scheduled service or event begins.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to complete role teardown and cleanup before leaving.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to remain focused on role for the duration of service or event.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to leave phones, food, and drinks behind the safety tape line.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to attend any worship team and STEAM team gatherings.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to invest in building relationships with team and congregants.
  • The [R7] Monitor Tech is expected to perform minimum independent study for continuous improvement.
  • Weekly independent study: 1+ hours (minimum)
  • STEAM briefing meeting: 15 minutes
  • Tech Role Setup: 15 minutes
  • STEAM debriefing meeting: 5 minutes
  • Tech Role Teardown: 15 minutes
  • Total Weekly Time Commitment: 2 hours, approx.
