Lighting Technician (Role 3)

The STEAM [R3] Lighting Tech runs LightKey v4! House Lights, Stage Lights, and Light Wall with Luminair. Understands Video Lighting needs. Must maintain and enhance existing lighting equipment. Usually performed by the [R4] Video Tech & [R2] Media Tech, according to who is scheduled by the [R10s] Scheduling Manager on Planning Center.

Must show ability to "use your eyes" to identify proper exposure, color, and movement in a tasteful professional manner. The ability to follow written checklists and verbal direction is imperative. Of course a friendly demeanor and positive attitude is also required. Ultimately, we are looking for a servant heart and a love for others.

  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for performing and submitting all checklists assigned.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for designing tasteful and genre-appropriate lighting scenes.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for triggering each lighting scene according to design.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for coordinating with [R6] Playback Tech for lighting automation.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for training any volunteers being onboarded in this role.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is responsible for working with the [R11] Tech Director on relevant improvements.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to maintain accurate blockout dates in Planning Center.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to quickly accept or decline role assignments in Planning Center.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to arrive early and well-prepared for the service or event.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to show up looking professional with a non-distracting appearance.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to complete role setup before scheduled service or event begins.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to complete role teardown and cleanup before leaving.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to remain focused on role for the duration of service or event.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to leave phones, food, and drinks behind the safety tape line.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to attend any worship team and STEAM team gatherings.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to invest in building relationships with team and congregants.
  • The [R3] Lighting Tech is expected to perform minimum independent study for continuous improvement.
  • Weekly independent study: 1+ hours (minimum)
  • Weekly automated scenes: <1 hour
  • STEAM briefing meeting: 15 minutes
  • Tech Role Setup: 15 minutes
  • Worship Rehearsal: 1 hour
  • Sunday Service: 1.5 hours
  • STEAM debriefing meeting: 5 minutes
  • Tech Role Teardown: 15 minutes
  • Total Weekly Time Commitment: 5 hours, approx.
