Video Technician (Role 4)

The STEAM [R4] Video Tech runs BlackmagicDesign Video Mixer! They must learn the cameras, framing, transitions, etc. Performs camera operator and video directing duties. Must continually learn tools and techniques for improvement. The [R4] Video Tech role is scheduled by the [R10s] Scheduling Manager on Planning Center.

Must show ability to "use your eyes" to identify what looks good with respect to exposure, color, framing, and movement. The ability to follow written checklists and verbal direction is imperative. Of course a friendly demeanor and positive attitude is also required. Ultimately, we are looking for a servant heart and a love for others.

  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for performing and submitting all checklists assigned.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for starting the livestream and disk recording for video.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for selecting and implementing various shots for video cuts.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for operating the cameras and attaining various camera angles.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for continuously improving the video quality and livestream results.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for archival of video services and publishing those archives.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for coordinating with [R6] Playback Tech for video automation.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for training any volunteers being onboarded in this role.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is responsible for working with the [R11] Tech Director on relevant improvements.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to maintain accurate blockout dates in Planning Center.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to quickly accept or decline role assignments in Planning Center.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to arrive early and well-prepared for the service or event.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to show up looking professional with a non-distracting appearance.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to complete role setup before scheduled service or event begins.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to complete role teardown and cleanup before leaving.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to remain focused on role for the duration of service or event.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to leave phones, food, and drinks behind the safety tape line.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to attend any worship team and STEAM team gatherings.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to invest in building relationships with team and congregants.
  • The [R4] Video Tech is expected to perform minimum independent study for continuous improvement.
  • Weekly independent study: 1+ hours (minimum)
  • STEAM briefing meeting: 15 minutes
  • Tech Role Setup: 30 minutes
  • Worship Rehearsal: 1 hour
  • Sunday Service: 1.5 hours
  • STEAM debriefing meeting: 5 minutes
  • Tech Role Teardown: 15 minutes
  • Total Weekly Time Commitment: 5 hours, approx.
