Studio Technician (Role 5)

The STEAM [R5] Studio Tech runs Ableton Live! They create a broadcast mix for Video / Livestream. Manages studio for monitoring and recording (and archiving). Must continually train ears and learn tools and techniques for improvement. The [R5] Studio Tech role is scheduled by the [R10s] Scheduling Manager on Planning Center.

In order to start learning the STEAM [R5] Studio Tech Role, one must first achieve the Independent Training Level [L4] for the [R1] Sound Tech Role. The prerequisites for the [R1] Sound Tech also apply here.

  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for performing and submitting all checklists assigned.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for creating a high-quality mix for the video stream.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for recording all tracks for post-editing and track reuse.
  • Deprecated: The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for producing high-quality rehearsal tracks for worship.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for producing a mastered worship song library for the team.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for archival of all click track led songs and organizing files.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for coordinating with [R6] Playback Tech for broadcast automation.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for training any volunteers being onboarded in this role.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is responsible for working with the [R11] Tech Director on relevant improvements.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to maintain accurate blockout dates in Planning Center.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to quickly accept or decline role assignments in Planning Center.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to arrive early and well-prepared for the service or event.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to show up looking professional with a non-distracting appearance.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to complete role setup before scheduled service or event begins.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to complete role teardown and cleanup before leaving.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to remain focused on role for the duration of service or event.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to leave phones, food, and drinks behind the safety tape line.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to attend any worship team and STEAM team gatherings.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to invest in building relationships with team and congregants.
  • The [R5] Studio Tech is expected to perform minimum independent study for continuous improvement.
  • Weekly independent study: 1+ hours (minimum)
  • Weekly song producing for reference: 1-2 hours
  • STEAM briefing meeting: 15 minutes
  • Tech Role Setup: 15 minutes
  • Worship Rehearsal: 1.5 hours
  • Sunday Service: 1.5 hours
  • STEAM debriefing meeting: 5 minutes
  • Tech Role Teardown: 15 minutes
  • Total Weekly Time Commitment: 7 hours, approx.
